[how the hell do you wear shorts with no slippers? what the...]

[new spot. where the old reign is. think osake meets o lounge]

[because tourists and military can be fun sometimes.]

[late night goes off. OFF. get there by 1am stay til 4. dance dance dance.]

[this is at lotus. interesting. late night as well.]

Fa-Fa-Fa-FASHION!

What the! Last night? What happened! Lol. It went from a classy pau hana at the Listening Party with Lia Sophia jewelry to crazy crazy crazy. I left my gift bag in the Hanohano room, Flash was drunk by 5:30p, and my boss isn't even in yet. Haw haw.

Listen! The girls have all been talking about doing a private clothing swap for a while now. Just bring the stuff we don't wear and trade it for something we would. Speaking of, why is it that other people's stuff is always more interesting than your own? Haw haw... have you ever peeked through your girlfriend's makeup? How many sparkle creams does someone really need? And why do I always feel like I have to have all of them! Ahhh.

Ok ok ok back to my point. You already know this weekend is the Fashionista's Market. The back to school clearance that's gonna get you some crazy hot designer stuff for really cheap. They moved it to the Japanese Cultural Center where there's WAY more room [no line for the fitting room anymore! woo!] and they have some new samples from Frankie B. Woo! Well also while you're there you can pay $25 for a ticket to their FIRST clothing exchange event. This is gonna be rad. You bring a pile of the clothes you just don't wear anymore and then have lunch [included]. After lunch and whatever complimentary spa service you get ALL the clothes that have been brought-ed will be out for you to take WHATEVER you want! What! For $25 you get to totally refresh your wardrobe.... your life even, haw haw. I'm so excited.

We're still gonna do our private one but I'm really excited for this one. You're gonna LOVE the clothes I been neglecting too. Hella tags hella designers.... dayum.

The Beer Olympian...

...is making us wait no more. VERY good. Kalima's magnificentness.

ps: the entry from your birthday? HAW haw! Poor thing. Do you remember any of that?

The affect humans can have...

...on others is unfortunately not recognized sometimes until they pass on. Sometimes it takes something tragic to snap us out of our every day blah blah yada yada to be more aware of this. I just found out that someone close to me from my school days died, shortly after I saw them for the last time. I'm not sure how to mourn since he's been gone for 7 years. It's hard. But Shawn-- I'll never forget you.
Speaking of people affecting others, Rell Sunn was also an amazing individual. She ruled the westside in terms of surfing but also continued to reach out and touch others with her tireless attempts to preserve the beauty and safety of Hawaii.

Tonight is the last night to see Lisa Denker's documentary about the Queen of Makaha's life.
The Heart of the Sea: Kapolioka'ehukai.
1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. tonight

Nateo Updateo

Happy Tuesday!
I got an update from my old friend Nate Sherwood. That kid gets so much friggin slack from people. He's one of those 'energetic' types that I tend to migrate towards. Whatever man. He's smarter than you give him credit for and he is by far the most adorably manic man in skateboarding. His words:

Christa I am up to my neck in shit School Psychology to be exact.
Skating/ finishing up American misfits this season. Celebrating my
411 part being out Wrenching hard on TWS stuff. Writing my novel as well when Time permits. Looking for a job in sales marketing design advertising and or anything Skate.
I as well been firing off emails and letting humans know how I feel about bullshit. A small sample is under me. I been trying to do my thing and By looking at Shad on your page he helped me back a shit load on my Apple stock that I bought 2 years ago at 50 bucks a share and is now up to 132 last I looked. Thanks Shad. I as well been running the hustle and living as I do here. I A am a member of a billiards league with the great one Matt Hensley and We travel around to pubs and shoot stick and drink beer it is great.

Thanks Nate! Always good to hear from you honey.

Live indie rock bands at Next Door tonight, where it's 18+ all summer... also something at Pipeline... something at Thurtyninehotel... something at Indigo... etc. etc. ... sorry, I'm in a hurry :)

Not a lot of love for both whippy and split?

That's cool man. I think it's better to just have one or the other too. Keep voting, let's see who has more by the end of the week.

I just wanted to chime in and interrupt the voting to let you know the weekend's pics are done. Highlights for the ADD'ers? Ya I got those:

first fashion friday.

first friday art walk. and dave wilkie's moo cards.

muskabeatz saturday.

and bam margera is totally not a celebrity prick like we thought.

artist's rendition makes a reappearance.

and russell will always be a big deal.

Monday Poll Day....

....because I'm super busy making the weekend update. Which by the way? Rocks. It was a good weekend. Super even.

This week is going to be good too. Lots happening. Don't get me started on the weekend yet tho. It's only Monday. Jeez. Settle down. You're too energetic sometimes. But get hyped! It's gonna be dopedopedopedopedope.....

PS Attention Blogger and Myspace: I still get spam, and now it's even harder to publish or send mail. Every time you tell me to enter the letters as they appear I'm wrong. I don't like being wrong. Maybe there can be a feature where you can disallow this added security thing and let us deal with the phishing [change password] and spam [delete it] as it happens. Please.

You have TWO hours....

...left to go to the Friends of the Library book sale at McKinley High School. What doing. Go. GO. You need a walk anyway after eating all that bbq today. And hey! You never know what sort of treasures you will find. I went last year. The last few moments are when you will be able to get some very interesting additions to your book or record collection at very very very decent prices. Go.

PS: Happy Birthday Russell Tanoue! Honolulu's celebrity philanthropist extraordinarre! I'll see you as soon as I can get this hair washed. After all... you gotta look and feel your best around Russell. He accepts nothing less! That's why he's such a gem. Lovelovelovelove.

[midweek]

Happy Sunday evening friend. See you tomorrow!

Friday. FIRST Friday equals...

...fashion!
I'm serious. You thought I was going to say Art Walk didn't you! Well that's totally happening tonight too but I was actually going to mention the new First Fashion Friday kicking off today at noon. Walk over to Aloha Tower and have lunch. they're claiming the re-emergence of style, I'm claiming it's FREE.

Later tonight after you check out all of the galleries (Thirtyninehotel is debuting some killer metro Manila stuff GO THERE) it's best if you wind up at Soundhouse. It's no secret that they are closing down very soon so this is one of the last chances you will have to get down and dirty at the Enterprise dancedancedancefunfun party. It's a crazy good time and you know this. Come as you are. Just wear comfortable shoes.

OH!! AND if you see a tall Chinese guy walking around with a camera on his hat, say hello and introduce yourself to the Internet. He livestreams 24/7 on there. Most of all, show him that Aloha Spirit that you showed me when I first got here that made me never want to leave ever ever not even for vacations. Mahalo!

Sorry everyone forgot...

...your birthday, America. I don't think it was intentional. You know, we all got our own stuff going on in all this busy-ness and whatnot. You know. I can barely remember to mail my Netflix. I think this year having it land on a Wednesday might have had something to do with it. It's like "ya ya ya life life life WOAH! holiday tomorrow."

But whatever. We'll still celebrate and we'll celebrate because it's our independence day. Some of us might take that in a more literal sense and celebrate THAT. Some of us... won't. I, however, am happy to confess that I have finally found [I think] a smidgen of peace in a pretty crazy and messed up few weeks. We'll see. Thanks for sticking around through all my mood swings. I'm ok now.
WHAT TH #^$%@*&~!~~~!!
[juaaaas kiddn].

So what! Happy 4th of July. Independence! AGAIN! Let's see... I am rushing to type this so I can go watch Sex and the City with the ladies for a minute. Then the standard holiday BBQ hop. Love those. Gotta figure out how I'm going to give Flash back this Saab. It handles so well. I just might have to keep it. OH! There's no way I'm not going to the Hanohano Room at the Sheraton this evening. The martinis are SO good and cheap and the friggin view from up there for sunset AND the fireworks is gonna be... well it's gonna be ok man. WOOO.

For future notice. As in Saturday.... MUSKA is coming people. If you don't know what that means you'll get to find out.
Trust me. It's gonna be good.

Don't You Just Love...

...TuesdayFridays?? So HOT. Burning up I am. Tonight is gonna be crazy. TELL me how fun added Fridays in the middle of the week are... Woo.

Tonight Kai Vodka is doing their thing at Pearl. The lychee flavor is so damn good you can actually drink it straight. Like, a real martini with only the vodka or whatever. Grown ups!!

Later on we're going to say hi to Cass at Du Vin [shhh, he doesn't know it yet] then scamper through Thirtyninehotel to wind down for two minutes with Newjass Quartet before checking out the Blue Geisha fashion show and whatever band is playing [ahem, update your page/site dudes] at Kaleidoscope. Fashion!

If I can find the time it's Waikiki man. Hopefully Lotus is open past 1am tonight cause it's on. HOT damn it's on.

Happy Friday/Tuesday.

OH WAIT! Special Announcement.... the Gym Class Heroes? They are actually pretty good. I checked out their CD because duh, we're gonna see them live here in a second and I'm a fan now. I highly recommend grabbing tickets to this.

iPhone what??

...there was certainly hype about these. So I must go ahead and share my phone story. It's not really a story so much as a lesson. A life lesson.

BUT! Before I do I must tell you that my good friend and fellow lurkogropher across the pond Shad Lambert totally got an iphone. his take on the whole ordeal is my favorite on the interweb. It's the only blog entry worth reading. Woo.

So ya, remember the spots for those RZR phones waaaaay back before you ever saw one in person? Like, the commercial when the entire room folds into the palm of this lady's hand with super cool edgy music? Ya. I saw that... and I HAD to have that damn phone. Of course it wasn't going to be launched in the US until the end of the year so I ordered one from Europe for only about $150 extra. Totaling the phone out to be slightly more than what an iphone is retailing for today. Nice. Well I got the phone and was pretty hyped on it for the two months it was in my possession before getting stolen in the VIP room at the Pro Bowl party when me and Lloyd were both acting a fool dancing on the couches. Nevermind the money. That phone wasn't even AVAILABLE in the US yet. I quickly replaced it with an ebay version and went immediately to work making it my own at that bead store in Kaimuki with Olena.

If I was going to spend so much money and effort to have a one of a kind super hot not released yet phone I might was well put in the time to have a custom phone dangle no? Too bad THAT only lasted about two weeks too. Stupid semi-pocket capri pant fashion statements. If anyone who works at the Living Room wants to roger up that they found it ... I know it was like 2005 or something.. but I'll take it! That thing was cool.

FIVE phones later... I'm using the cheapo default phone from [hate my carrier so much I don't even want to give them a mention here]. The lesson here? Material possesions can suck it.

I'm going back to postcards.
Everyone send me your address.

ps: BEER OLYMPICS photos are up.

As 'Different Week' closes...

...there are a few things that I've learned. Mainly? A lot of things never change. It's nice to know there's options though. This is the best city I've ever lived in... and taking two steps to the right of my comfort zone has opened up even more beauty and richness. I'm surprised more people don't do it... but I can understand why too. I mean, we still wound up in our favorite spots as the evenings would wind down.

Some highlights:

first of all. i wore a hat. i never wear hats really. ok, it's not my hat, and it was only for a second. but ya. different. [ps: happy birthday kalima]

wine club at indigo is a very lively bunch.

i'm going to take lessons. i need them.

island hopping is good but don't take your phone.

people on kauai are very friendly. and fun.

and finally... don't mess with france. unless there is some sort of beer-chugging component. cause then you will beat france.

I gotta get my column uploaded... but the full blogs are ready!
Part ONE
Part TWO

aloha!
