First Friday. You know the Deal.

Some special events are happening though. Mainly the "official" launch of Alex and Corey's site that you've heard me mention here and there. It's called "DoSomethingTonight" and it's pretty good. Most times the faces behind anything web or technology driven are NOT like this:

I don't know how they get anything done with it since they're always out partying but whatever man. It's the best resource that I've seen and totally unbiased. If you do any events and you haven't sent them the info go ahead and do that. Come by their launch party tonight too. They're really nice guys. They probably won't be sober tho. Just saying.

Later you can see the first ever MC battle at O Lounge at FLOW. Or see the portrait thing at Thirtyninehotel that I mentioned earlier this week. Or just stay at Next Door and check out Doc Martin. That's always a nice crowd.

Enjoy!

Anything you can do SHE can do better...

Nadine Kam is blogging! I'm hyped. It's called Fashion Tribe but trust me, I'm sure there will be tid bits from all sorts of arts and nightlife stuff in addition to the fashion scene. I see her everywhere and she is definitely one of my faves. Bookmark that ish!

Also this week, it's going to be a pretty jam packed weekend you guys. Get ready. The big ones? Downtowne, GroundUP, Skyline, and Russell Tanoue's finale for that model search thingie. I'll give you more details soon. As for TONIGHT! Hedwig, Commando, & Lyle Matsuura are all playing live at Next Door and it's 18nup so all you college kids (welcome back!) make sure you check it out.

Next door to Next Door at Bar 35 is their usual B rated classic sci-fi, monster/horror, Kung Fu night. Have a drink!

So last night's moon! I didn't know you could see it all the way in Vegas. Rad.

Pay Attnetion! A VERY Cool Person...

...is in town RIGHT NOW! He's also going to sign some of his books at A'Ala Park Boardshop today at 5pm. If you haven't heard of Chris Nieratko or thought about picking up his book Skinema don't EVEN worry. Like what, you're expected to know about each and every cool and x-rated thing in the whole WORLD? Pshhhh. Ya right. Just believe me ok? I only know about him because I subscribe to Vice but whatever man. I'll be the first to tell you that I haven't bought the book but it's only because if I want a compilation of his columns I can get to clippin. It will be super rad to meet him tho and have a conversation. Peep his site and you'll fall in love too. OH! and here's a review ripped directly off from Amazon about the book... just so you know it's not "technially" porn people:

SKINEMA reviews over 150 pornos but seldom mentions porn. The book is actually about the pill-popping exploits of Chris Nieratko. "He's an asshole," as Johnny Knoxville puts it, but whether he's rescuing a stalker from choking on her own vomit, getting his nose broken for having AIDS (he doesn't), or marrying the one woman that can put up with his insanity, his life sounds so much like a collection of hilarious bar stories it's impossible not to grab a beer and listen to the whole thing. Ten years ago, Chris Nieratko was getting drunk with pals from the seminal skateboard magazine Big Brother and writing whatever came to his wasted head. When he became the editor they started a now-infamous group of idiots called Jackass. Chris ate eggs until he puked for the show but his love of pills and sleeping lent itself more to the literary world. When Vice Magazine and a few other outlets said they needed porn reviews, Chris obliged by sticking the names of porn videos above various rants about his life. The review for LIQUID GOLD 2 begins, "My mom could single-handedly save my town from flooding if ever the occasion arose. She once worked at the United States' largest producer of maxi-pads and before being laid off, stockpiled truckloads of the stuff." He mentions the porn he is reviewing approximately zero times. The pieces hardly ever address the videos, instead using them as a catalyst for ranting and reminiscing about his own life, the pieces ultimately forming a kind of anarchic memoir of sex, drugs, failed romantic encounters with pornstars, fake tits, bad decisions, mean-spirited antics, and the ultimate showstopper, marriage. The book also includes the definitive guide to getting a stripper to leave the club with you. SKINEMA is the first in a series of VICE books inspired by the magazine's content. It's called Jackass Journalism in remembrance of the once great gonzo journalism that so tragically shot itself in the head recently.

You can de-maladjust after at the Honolulu Academy of Arts for another Art After Dark if you like. This one is KABUKI and will have a Giinko Marischino performance. Act like you know!

Supercrew will be re-maladjusting later later at the Thunder from Down Under. Because a steamy misappropriate soft core porn weekend is how WE roll....

Monday UN fun day? HA!

Mondays are tough, I'll be the first to admit it. Thank GOD for BAMP! They've been managing to bring Hawaii some very good talent since forming a few years ago and man, I gotta tell you. Success! Seriously. I'm trying to remember their first big show-- and I think it was Nick Cannon and 112 in 2005. Anyone? Or was it Mix Master Mike? Shoot, I wish I could remember, but ya, now they've got the venues overflowing and are identifying bands that other concert promoters are like "who?" and the concert goers are like "YES!!" and... well, it's working people. Case in point? Ummm... TONIGHT! Jeez, RATATAT?!?!? What the! I'm so excited. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. Monday is definitely going to be a fun day Brad, Aubrey, Matty and Philip!

Also, before RATATAT, Uncle Tom is presenting The Shins for the kids. They're very nice to listen to. Come early if that's your thing.

[OH ps: I already updated all my longer photo updates. Check em out if you want. XOXO]

Giinko Marischino
Tassho Pearce
G-Spot
DJ Skid
Redeye Jedi (b-boys)
E.T. - SoulShifters, Circle of Fire

Not to mention the circa '97 slideshow at 8pm. How amazing that these folks are going to take us back to that time with them. It's a journey I know I'll be taking for the first time, as I didn't 'necessarily' find my home here until like 6 years after that. This is going to be one special night people. See you there.

Everyone is talking about ....

...it.
...and there's a reason why. Quadmag has been around longer than any nightlife website in hawaii. back before any social network there were these things called fourms. threads man. that's hella old school.

but if you're reading this then you know how far we've come as far as interacting with each other in our underwear via spaces where you can portray yourself as whoever you want to be.

[ten with ted. uber talent face off. by lacycam.]

so ya as far as hawaii is concerned, ten is a pioneer... and he's celebrating hardcore this saturday. it's the 10th anniversary of quadmag.com.

It's a fundraiser so budget out some of your hookers and support the guy who's brought Honolulu's nightlife community together for a decade. It's only $10 man. Paula Fuga is performing. Jamal is hosting. It's going to be epic.

Monday means it's time...

...to talk about the WEEKEND!!!

No serious. Start making plans now to be at Don Ho's on the 23rd. I'll already be downtown for a fashion event at Thirtyninehotel around 6 but NOTHING will make me miss this:

Main reason? Cherry Blowwom Burlesque is TOTALLY pro you guys! they are amazing. The only thing I can ever say bad about them? Their acts aren't LONG ENOUGH!

White bitches WHITE!!

So last night I went to the Sheraton to say goodbye to Ryan Laskey. I miss him already. He was totally introducing me to everyone as the "one who made Skyline successful". I was like Hey! I just GO to Skyline. Apparently, he truly believes that me showing up in the beginning days with my camera and making it look a lot more fun than it was in my blogs is what ultimately brought the massive crowds that come today. THREE YEARS ago! Man, did they even HAVE the internet way back then? Lol. Ya... I mean, I can see that. My photo blog is archived so you can see for yourself how appealing it did or didn't look. Try to get past my prose back then. I was swearing a lot for some reason.

But ya anyway. TONIGHT is the anniversary of Skyline. Kind of a big deal to supercrew. Such a big deal that we wear all white. It's noticable. Like us I guess. Please come help celebrate. Make sure you wear all white though... and bring some cash. Even the guest list pays tonight (but not that much).

Other interesting things tonight-- Nu Mark from Jurassic 5 is at Next Door and Marcus is introducing his new Kai Vodka to the barely legals at Monkey Bar tonight. I'm going to attempt to be at all three.

Fa-Fa-Fa-FASHION!

WHAT THE?! SO I totally heard Paula Rath's announcement about the Advertiser's new fasion magazine at the Fashion Incubator waaay back in April. I totally didn't expect to see them launch with the most comprehensive fashion and lifestyle website that Honolulu has ever seen! WOAH. I'm super duper impressed. The site is totally pro both visually and content-wise, which for some reason is a concept lost on some ventures. They've introduced pretty much anything you would be interested in knowing about nightlife as well, which is making me cheese uncontrollably this morning for reals.

LOVE IT!

As for tonight it's First Friday so that means art walk in Chinatown. If you're not over it then I would suggest checking out Tempo Valley at the Hawaii State Art museum and then dancing your ass off later at Sound House for the Enterprise party.

S-s-saturday S-s-stuff....

I'm not one to gossip. ..... but you DO realize the "M" in BAMP is Matty boy Hazelgrove. BAMP being the producers of the 30 Seconds to Mars show this weekend. and Matty Boy being the promoter that does the Honolulu party at Longhis.
Connection?
YES. Expect to see the band at Honolulu tonight.
But you didn't hear that from me.

Saturday picks:
Honolulu at Longhi's
STYLISH dress code. 9pm - 2am

SCION Party at O Lounge
(and only because I met the guy Josh from LA that's DJ'ing it last night and he was hot hot hot)
..and SHOWDOWN IN CHINATOWN. the freakishly fast short-film competition that the LOST people always win. That's at Next Door. Get there early or be bummed.

Enjoy your weekend friends.

I like your face!

It's about time someone else step it up in the photo blog world. At least here in Hawaii. I understand that being consistent involves a bit of obsession but I think once people get started they realize that they can't stop. I'm assuming it's very similar to black tar heroin, actually. Your close friends start to say "hey! take a picture of THIS!" and your not-so-close friends start to say "grrrreat. now the whole internet is going to know [fill in the blank]"

But I digress. I don't think there can be ENOUGH photo bloggers in this world, ESPECIALLY in Hawaii. It makes sure between all of us that everything is covered. I try to keep up with all of them all over the world-- but pay particular attention to the ones here. One of note, DanceonPartyon.com, has just launched.

This is a project by the colorful indie kid Dan Weaver. Cut n Sewn Dan Weaver. He's a doll and I'm loving the style. Make sure you check it out. Bookmark it. Tell everyone. Etc.

Some other bloggers here of note? Kalima. DUH! Race also handles a lot of the VJ inside scoop. Mana has the not-so-easy-to-break-in-to north shore crew on lock. It's a lovely Hawaii-interweb thanks to people like this.

PS: It's Friday. SOFA KING looking forward to this weekend. I'll tell you what's happening later. Gotta get to work.

After craaaaazy Friday...

...it's time for classy Saturday. After nice wine and nice dinner with nice ladies at Du Vin tonight we are checking out the Showdown in Chinatown. I HOPE you know what Showdown is... basically, participants are given the topic and two mandatory props to be used 24 hours in advance by text message. They then have until 8pm Saturday night to create a short film based on said topic and props. Tonight the topic is "addiction" and the 2 props are an apple and pencil.

I'm looking forward to it.
