Labor Day Weekend, day one

Saturday. I know there's something I'm supposed to be doing. Can't. Quite. Figure it out.

Either way! Tonight is the GROUNDUP movement. The last one was dopedopedope so make sure you get to chinatown. It's right across from Little Village and there is no age requirement whatsoever.

Later tonight at E&O there is a monthly happening from the Downtowne ladies Ruby and Kayko. If you don't know about these parties, I'm not sure I really want to tell you. They are for women who love women and they go OFF on the themes. Tonight is fashion week and I'm not missing this for the world.

More soon, these are the picks tho. Check my boys at DoSomethingTonight.com for a more intensive list. I know Adam Saaks is back-- I saw him at the Smart mag party. So get a shirt at Skyline!

OOOOOh and Nicole Scherzinger is back home to host da kine at the Monkey Bar with the Vertial Junkies at the Hyatt. Don't not go! She's single now and hothothot.

Don't You Just Love...

...TuesdayFridays?? So HOT. Burning up I am. Tonight is gonna be crazy. TELL me how fun added Fridays in the middle of the week are... Woo.

Tonight Kai Vodka is doing their thing at Pearl. The lychee flavor is so damn good you can actually drink it straight. Like, a real martini with only the vodka or whatever. Grown ups!!

Later on we're going to say hi to Cass at Du Vin [shhh, he doesn't know it yet] then scamper through Thirtyninehotel to wind down for two minutes with Newjass Quartet before checking out the Blue Geisha fashion show and whatever band is playing [ahem, update your page/site dudes] at Kaleidoscope. Fashion!

If I can find the time it's Waikiki man. Hopefully Lotus is open past 1am tonight cause it's on. HOT damn it's on.

Happy Friday/Tuesday.

OH WAIT! Special Announcement.... the Gym Class Heroes? They are actually pretty good. I checked out their CD because duh, we're gonna see them live here in a second and I'm a fan now. I highly recommend grabbing tickets to this.

Thursday Hip Hop. Hip HAWP.

After work you should make an attempt to eat something delicious... and I'm talking about stuff like potato chip nachos. Macadamia nut crusted warm brie with honey and basalmic vinegar. Etc. Kincaids! Pupus are half-price and YES it's a ZONE event... but good is good-- and those eats are damn good. I've been loving that spot for years. Proof.

TONIGHT as in late nite is another fantastic hip hop show that you won't regret seeing at Next Door. Pharcyde's Fatlip is there with OMNI who has been known to cahoot with the likes of Aceyalone [ahem, the best kept secret in hip hop but whatever]. Side note: hip hop show is the most underestimated source of pure unadulterated GOOD there is. Never not fun... especially the underground shows at Next Door. Good vibe. AMAZING vibe. Much love. Much energy. Much dancing.
I'll be all up in that mix.
Word.

Happy Birthday Prince!

I remember you. My mom had your record and I used to play it even when I wasn't allowed to even GO NEAR her record player. I was soooo jealous of my sister and her best friend because their actual names are Lisa and Wendy just like your backup girls. I wanted to have sex with you before I even knew what sex was. Your music was so hot back then. YOU were so hot back then.

So ya, don't think I'm not totally going to be out tonight celebrating your day at Mercury bar. Duh!

PS: Nocturnal Sound Crew KILLED it last night. OMG that was like the most fun ever. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!

PS: ROSS!!

Something new at the same old place

So G-spot is having this massive pub crawl in Chinatown tonight.

Before that goes down, I heard from a little HAA birdie that there's new stuff in the contemporary room at the academy... and this only happens once a month:

OH! and since we're going in backwards order... go to the Moana Surfrider hotel today at 1pm for a meet and greet for Andy's new love! AW! Tessa! Congratulations on your new life. HERE!

OH! and one last thing... the Rainbow Film Festival starts today. The schedule is up so check it.

Happy Memorial Day weekend... I'll put up more ideas for you later.

Super Bowl Monday

So Rick Rock does this thing at Aiea Bowl on Mondays now. It's worth the drive, trust me. The third Monday of the month is industry night a.k.a. everyone responsible for FUN on Oahu night. We're going.

If you need persuading definitely check out that photo blog and get hyped! Bowling is mad fun people. What else are you going to do on a Monday night. I hear the SMART girls need one more for their team. Get at them.

Friday HAAAAY!

Try lurking the indies tonight since this is only a monthly gig:

I'm going to be trying out Peter Maharaj's take on 'upscale' nightlife at Aaron's in Waikiki early kine.

Ooooh! It's worth checking out Russ's gig at Brew Moon for the hot barely legal surf/skate scene:

...and the start of the BBOY weekend at some strange place I haven't been to yet:

and finally... some dude from SF at Next Door:

Sharing Photos are we?

Well. I'm not one to be super in to slide-show type stuff but I see that a lot of you are. Well. If you live in Hawaii there is ABSOLUTELY no reason why you should be using anything other than Kindfish. Why? Cause they local sistah! We need to support anyone who makes in impact in the technology world over here. Serious.

The site is still developing some supersecretstealthbutawesome tools, but for now you can totally make an account and upload photos with a really easy java uploader then HEY! a slideshow channel! What's cool about it is that anyone can contribute to your channel and you can even add more from your cell phone. The interface is simple but let me know if you need help. Here's one I made for the SMART Shoe Diva event.

So that's my love for now. Kindfish.

I like your face!

It's about time someone else step it up in the photo blog world. At least here in Hawaii. I understand that being consistent involves a bit of obsession but I think once people get started they realize that they can't stop. I'm assuming it's very similar to black tar heroin, actually. Your close friends start to say "hey! take a picture of THIS!" and your not-so-close friends start to say "grrrreat. now the whole internet is going to know [fill in the blank]"

But I digress. I don't think there can be ENOUGH photo bloggers in this world, ESPECIALLY in Hawaii. It makes sure between all of us that everything is covered. I try to keep up with all of them all over the world-- but pay particular attention to the ones here. One of note, DanceonPartyon.com, has just launched.

This is a project by the colorful indie kid Dan Weaver. Cut n Sewn Dan Weaver. He's a doll and I'm loving the style. Make sure you check it out. Bookmark it. Tell everyone. Etc.

Some other bloggers here of note? Kalima. DUH! Race also handles a lot of the VJ inside scoop. Mana has the not-so-easy-to-break-in-to north shore crew on lock. It's a lovely Hawaii-interweb thanks to people like this.

PS: It's Friday. SOFA KING looking forward to this weekend. I'll tell you what's happening later. Gotta get to work.

Hump Day Hop

I'm in to Wednesdays. They hurt a little so having something to look forward to is the all particular sometimes.

Flash and Matty are going for round 2 with an event at the Sheraton for their elite Skyline crowd. I personally liked the idea of Sender and all his hipster friends, but I think the idea is to give the Skyline people something to get over the mid-week blues. Since most of us are slaving away monday thru Friday to make the money that we spend spend spend on all that bottle service.

Anyway, it's worth a go. For the sunset views from the Hanohano Room alone. Not to MENTION how dope Deshannon Higa and Maria Remos are. Music. Views. Free. Chill time. etc.

THEN you can decide if it's worth going all out for Makana at Indigo, 80s at Next Door and of course barely legals at the O Lounge.

Weekend Update Yo

highlights from the weekend. TONS of food.

Chef Mavro's new spot at Harbor Court is a MUST do. For reals.

so is the wailoi tea room in manoa. you gotta pre-order the tea service tho so don't forget!

and last but not least... the POOL PARTY that flash and matty do at the sheraton waikiki the last sunday of every month. best sunday everrrrr.

the entire photo blog is here. i would look. food. hats. and bikinis.

and ps: WHERE the heck is john berger? i haven't seen him in like a month.

What's hotter than getting blogged about?

Oh I dunno..... maybe going out with a guy that is broadcasting his life 24/7 on the internet. Hey, I had a bad breakup. What else am I going to do.
Justin.tv is s.h.r.n. so I'm going to SF for a date. Any suggestions for gifts, things to do, talk about, etc. are welcome. Hurry up now. I only have a few weeks.

It goes down Saturday May 5th (tentatively, but pretty much for sure) so make sure you save that day to be glued to your computer. We're a few hours behind SF so you won't have to stay up late. Or maybe you will. It's a mystery!
">

PS: Genegabus at the Star-bulletin did a cute shout-out about it. Thank GOD he had a nice looking shot of me.

[gotta love flash]

Colin's Kicks...

...sent me a text message at 3:42am about two weeks ago.

I miss you Christa. I remember when you first gave me your card at the Wave. I'm growing sunflowers. Want one?

I eagerly responded yes, not sure if it was innuendo or not-- and not even really caring either way. Colin is superfly.

Got this photo-message just now. I am seriously down with this kid people:

Too much negativity...

...and blogging about men I'm angry with has prompted me to shift my focus to men that... well... I'm the opposite of angry with.

...the result of that Starbuck's Art Project

we collected our trash for the better part of a year. all those pineapple bran muffins and americanos proved to be the perfect medium. with the help of the office stapler.

the tree-top view in our new office provided the inspiration.

detailed view

we were even commissioned for an installation by famous hawaii casting agent Sue Larkin. i can't find those shots, but just trust me. starbucks trash is good shit, man.
